It seems Shruti Haasan's Monster Machine song is a strong commentary on patriarchy and gender stereotypes.
Shruti Haasan on Wednesday unveiled a small glimpse of her upcoming music video named Monster Machine. Shruti seems to have ditched her soft-natured, girl-next-door charm by embracing a bold, loud, fierce and powerful demeanour.
The teaser begins with Shruti dressed in a conventional outfit before she reveals the wild side of her in a dark and gritty visual presentation. Soaked in dark lava, and armed with a wielding a sledgehammer, Shruti delivers a powerful message: "Your baby is a monster."
Monster Machine takes on patriarchy
It seems the theme of Monster Machine is to highlight that there's more to a woman than meets the eye. The woman in this song is not just a pretty face; she embodies strength and liberation, embracing aspects considered unorthodox by society. It seems the sledgehammer shown in the video symbolises the smashing of patriarchy and gender stereotypes.

Even though the Monster Machine song is in English, Shruti pays homage to her mother tongue, Tamil, by opening the teaser with the question, "Enna eppo puriyidha? (Do you understand now?)."
Shruti has announced that the full video will be out at midnight on October 26. Following the video's release, she will also take part in a live interaction session with her fans on her Instagram page.
Shruti Haasan's transforming career
Shruti seems to be redefining her career in show business. Besides focusing on her career in the Indian film industry, she is also taking up leading roles in foreign movies. She is now waiting for the release of The Eye. She has played the female lead in the upcoming supernatural thriller, which is helmed by American filmmaker Daphne Schmon.
