Shreyas Talpade to star in Disney+Hotstar’s sports biopic Kaun Pravin Tambe?; film to release in April

The upcoming film, which also features Ashish Vidyarthi, Parambrata Chatterjee, and Anjali Patil, is directed by Jayprad Desai

The intriguing story of cricketer Pravin Tambe, who made his IPL debut at the age of 41, is about to come alive on screens soon. A biopic based on the sportsman’s life was announced recently, titled Kaun Pravin Tambe, with Shreyas Talpade essaying the titular role. The upcoming film will premiere on Disney+ Hotstar on April 1, 2022, in Hindi, Tamil and Telugu. The trailer of the film will be released on March 9.

The first poster for the upcoming biopic was unveiled by the makers on their social media handles as well. It shows photographs of several popular Indian cricketers such as M S Dhoni, Rahul Dravid, Yuvraj Singh and Sachin Tendulkar, along with the ages at which each of them made their debut. Among them is Talpade as Tambe. While the debut ages of the rest of them are before their 20s, Tambe’s is shown as 41 years. The poster’s caption calls Tambe ‘the most experienced debutante’ and calls his story one of the most ‘inspiring stories never told’.

Tambe had debuted in the Indian Premier League in 2012, earning a chance to play for Rajasthan Royals. According to a report in Bollywood Hungama, the cricketer had expressed how humbled he feels that his story is being turned into a film. He hoped that it would inspire more people to never undermine their potential and keep chasing their dreams.

Talpade also talked about the ‘once-in-a-lifetime opportunity’, he got to play the lead in the film, saying that he enjoyed every minute of the process.

The upcoming film, directed by Jayprad Desai, also features Ashish Vidyarthi, Parambrata Chatterjee, and Anjali Patil in crucial roles. The film is produced under the banners of Fox Star Studios and Friday Filmworks.
