Shraddha Das has had an interesting mix of work this year, which she acknowledged with a social media post last night. From playing a sanyasini in the Telugu comedy drama Ek Mini Katha, to an Interpol officer in Kotigobba 3 and now, a CID official in her upcoming Bengali web series Sleeper Cell, she’s had her hands full.

“Sleeper Cell is being launched on November 28 on a new OTT platform called Mojoplex. This show, in which I play a CID officer called Nandita, has been directed by Anshuman Pratyush, with whom I had done the Bangla film Panther: Hindustan Meri Jaan earlier. The show has a lot of senior Bengali artistes in it and it’s been amazing working them. As of now, we have shot for the first season, which has about six episodes,” says Shraddha, who shot for the show earlier this year in Kolkata, when lockdown relaxations came in force.

The year, she says, has been good. “I had two releases, one of which, Ek Mini Katha, was shot last year in August and came out during the lockdown in 2021. Although I had shot for my portions in Kotigobba 3 earlier, the promotions prior to its October 15 release kept me busy. Now, I have Sleeper Cell coming out, which will be followed up by another Telugu project called Arrdham, which is with Master Mahendran, in which I am a psychologist. Arrdham will probably get a release across all four languages. I have actually been quite busy, pandemic nothwithstanding,” says Shraddha.

The Sudeep starrer Kotigobba 3, meanwhile, has got the actress a lot of positive feedback. “I have found a new fan base in Karnataka since the film, even though I have done Kannada films earlier. The response has been amazing, which, I did not expect, because it is not a typical heroine role and had me suited up and guns blazing. The sad part is that I had shot for some action scenes for the climax, which didn’t make it to the final version,” she says.

Despite the limited screen time, Shraddha is glad to have been a part of a big star film. “I look at it positively; rather than having a flop and not have a character that’s liked, it’s better to be a part of a hit with a small but well-appreciated role. In fact, since Kotigobba 3, I have got a few offers in Kannada since, including for special numbers, but I haven’t finalized anything yet," she signs off.
