The team of Dhanush's latest release Thiruchitrambalam recently released a new video from the film as part of the promotions. In the video, Nithya Menen's character Shobana from the film is seen interviewing Nithya Menen, the actress. When Shobana quizzes Nithya why she decided to play the role in Thiruchitrambalam, she says that it was because Shobana was very different from Nithya Menen in real life and that she wanted to give it a try.. Shobana later asks Nithya why she agreed to play Dhanush's friend in the film and pat comes the reply, "Shobana is everything to Thiru, his lifeline, his best friend and pillar of support. He considers Shobana his family." The actress went on add that she enjoyed being on the sets and that she felt like she was part of one big family.

Thiruchitrambalam, directed by Mithran Jawahar, has Dhanush, Nithya Menen, Raashi Khanna and Priya Bhavani Shankar in the lead. The film opened to positive reviews from the audience and critics yesterday. The film is said to be a romantic drama and Dhanush plays the titular character in it. The star cast also includes Bharathiraja, Prakash Raj, Munishkanth, Sriranjini and Stunt Silva.

The film marks the comeback of the hit duo Anirudh and Dhanush after a gap of a few years. The songs Thaai Kelavi, Megham Karukkatha, Life of Pazham and Themozhi have already gone on to become hits. This is Dhanush's first theatrical release after a gap of five films. His previous films Karnan, Jagame Thandhiram, Atrangi Re, Maaran and The Gray Man released directly on OTT. The satellite rights of the film have been acquired by Sun TV and the digital streaming rights have been bagged by Sun NXT. The film has been bankrolled by Sun Pictures and distributed by Udhayanidhi Stalin's Red Giant Movies.
