The amazing chemistry between Shivarajkumar and Priya Anand apart, the highlight of Meetadena Veene is Prabhudeva’s choreography
When Century Star Shivarajkumar got the opportunity to work with Prabhudeva and have the latter even choreograph a song in the film, Karataka Damanaka, he was all praise for how the moves were planned to complement the lyrics and the tune. The song, Meetadena Veene, written by director Yogaraj Bhat himself, is one of the better songs on the Karataka Damanaka album by V Harikrishna. The romantic number has been beautifully sung by Rajesh Krishnan, and picturised on Shivarajkumar and Priya Anand.
The full video of the song has been released now, in what is usually seen as a prelude to the film’s OTT outing. A few days ago, they’d dropped the full version of Hithalaka Karibyada Mava, the peppy dance number between Prabhudeva and Nishvika Naidu. The title track had been released before the film’s theatrical release, so Meetadena Veene was the only major song pending to be out in the public domain.
After the lyrical version of the song came out, Shivarajkumar had spoken about Prabhudeva’s style of dance which is a mix of various genres. Prabhudeva’s strength as a choreographer, he said, was that the former will not unnecessarily make an actor break into tedious moves just because he/she is an excellent dancer. No matter the actor’s skills, Prabhudeva will only do what is absolutely necessary or a song, said Shivarajkumar.
Karataka Damanaka has been picked up by Zee Network for its OTT and satellite rights by Zee Network, so the film should drop on Zee5 in a couple of weeks. The film, meanwhile, has Shivarajkumar and Prabhudeva as a couple of conmen, who are sent to a village to convince an elder, who happens to be the jailer’s father, to head to the city. Once there, though, they realize that the villagers in the rain-starved village, are at the mercy of a ruthless MLA and his henchmen and decide to stick around and help them.
