The movie, which is tentatively titled Khushi, is set to go on floors later this month
Vijay Deverakonda and Samantha’s upcoming movie, which is tentatively titled Khushi, will have music by Malayalam composer Hesham Abdul Wahab. The film, which is helmed by Shiva Nirvana, had its pooja function in Hyderabad on Thursday.
Shiva, who had previously directed Majili and Tuck Jagadish, had previously considered AR Rahman and Anirudh Ravichander for the film’s music before zeroing in on Hesham, who shot to national fame recently for his tracks in Pranav Mohanlal and Kalyani Priyadarshan-starrer Hridayam, which had a total of 15 songs. Shiva, who is also a lyricist, was reportedly impressed by Hesham’s work in the film.
The Malayalam music director, who has already begun composing for the family entertainer set in Kashmir, said that the film fulfils his wish to make another lengthy music album like Hridayam. Hesham will be composing the songs as well as the background music for the big-budget Telugu movie, which is produced by Mythri Movies. The film is set to hit theatres in December this year.
Meanwhile, this is not the first time a Malayali music director is composing for Vijay’s films. Gopi Sundar and Jakes Bejoy had previously composed for his movies such as Geetha Govindam, Taxiwaala and World Famous Lover. Both Vijay and Samantha are expected to travel to Kashmir during the weekend.
Vijay, meanwhile, has completed the shoot of Puri Jagannadh’s Liger, which also has Ananya Panday, Ramya Krishnan and Ronit Roy. Mike Tyson will also be seen playing a cameo as himself in the multi-lingual movie, co-produced by Karan Johar. The movie, which will also mark Vijay’s Bollywood debut, has him playing a kickboxer.
Meanwhile, Samantha too has several big films lined up for release including Gunasekhar’s big budget period epic Shaakuntalam and the Tamil romcom Kaathuvaakula Rendu Kaadhal, which also has Vijay Sethupathi and Nayanthara as part of the lead cast.
