Shilpa Shetty with husband Raj Kundra
Raj Kundra, a businessman and the husband of Bollywood actress Shilpa Shetty, was arrested by the Mumbai Police on July 19, 2021, for allegedly being involved in a porn production racket¹. He was accused of being a "key conspirator" in creating and distributing pornographic content through mobile apps. He was booked under various sections of the Indian Penal Code, the Information Technology Act and the Indecent Representation of Women (Prohibition) Act.
Kundra spent two months in Arthur Road jail before he was granted bail by a Mumbai court on September 20, 2021. He has denied any wrongdoing and claimed that he was only producing "erotica" and not "pornography". He has also alleged that he was a victim of a "media trial" and that his reputation and business were damaged by the false allegations.
According to reports by Pinkvilla, Kundra is now planning to make his acting debut with a film based on his jail term after the porn scandal. The film will showcase Kundra's experiences and struggles behind bars. The source was quoted as saying, "The film will present an account of all that Raj Kundra experienced through his tenure in one of most over-crowded Jail – Arthur Road Jail. The director’s name has been kept under wraps for now, but Raj Kundra will be creatively involved in all aspects – from production to script."
The sources said that Kundra has already started working on the script and has approached some directors and producers for the project. He is also in talks with some OTT platforms for the release of the film. The sources added that Kundra wants to use the film as a platform to tell his side of the story and to clear his name from the controversy.
The film is expected to release sometime next year on an OTT platform..
