The cricketer-actor chose to debut with this film as it has a good message for society
There is a special treat in store for cinephiles and cricket lovers, as ace cricketer Shikhar Dhawan’s debut film Double XL is all set to hit theatres on November 4. The lead actors in the film are Huma Qureshi and Sonakshi Sinha. The cricketer recently got candid with Hindustan Times, speaking about his experience of shooting for the film.
Asked if he had any jitters while facing the camera, Shikhar said that he did not and that acting came naturally to him. For certain sequences, he was asked to dance, which, Shikhar says, he did easily.
Revealing why he chose Double XL as his debut film, Shikhar said that the story left a deep impact on him and he believes that it will start conversations around body image. He hopes that those who watch the film will leave theatres knowing that they can keep pursuing their dreams, no matter what.
The cricketer-actor was all praises for his co-star Huma, who he called humble and good-hearted. Shikhar added that she made him comfortable on the sets and even gave him some acting tips.
Helmed by Satram Ramani, Double XL is the tale of two plus-size women who set out to challenge societal norms. The film is set to release on November 4. It will be clashing with Janhvi Kapoor’s Mili and Katrina Kaif’s Phone Bhoot at the box office.
