Former journalist and actress Sheethal Shetty’s debut directorial Window Seat is ready for its date with audiences. Earlier today, the team launched the trailer, which had lead actor Nirup Bhandari in a never-before-seen avatar. Sheetal had earlier said that her film is a romantic drama that also involves a crime and the investigation thereof, which is what the trailer also depicts. And now, she has also announced the film’s theatrical release date. Window Seat is gearing up for its date with audiences on July 1. At the moment there are two other Kannada films, Likith Shetty’s Abbabba and Shiva Rajkumar’s Bairagee that are also releasing on the same day.

Window Seat is a script that Sheethal took 2-3 years to write. In earlier interactions with the media, Nirup has said that he plays a musician who works at a resort, and travels by train to work and always chooses the window seat. On his journey, he falls in love with a girl and what happens thereafter forms the crux of the film. The actor added that he took up the project as he is looking at doing films in different genres that give him varying roles. But more importantly, when a script is narrated to him, he tries to judge how well-versed the filmmaker is with the story, the visualisation ideas and technical know-how to make it happen. With Sheethal, Nirup felt that she had a good grip over her content and was confident of executing it well. The actor has been quoted as saying that the director is the hero of the film.

“When Sheethal first met me, I had no idea that she was the director. She had come accompanied by a couple of others and when I asked who would do the narration, they said she would. I was quite thrilled, because I have seen her as a news anchor and as an actor and that she was taking the next step into direction. I really liked the plot,” he said.

Produced by Vikrant Rona maker Manjunath Gowda, the film has music by Arjun Janya and also stars Lekha Naidu, among others.
