Shazam! Fury of the Gods has officially wrapped its shoot. David F. Sandberg, who directs the superhero movie, confirmed the news by sharing a photo from the set of the film on his social media handle.
After a number of behind-the-scenes photos and speculations that the film has wrapped, the director’s post is exciting for the fans. The director shared a photo that celebrates the chaos he created on set and also wrote, “That’s a wrap! Now sleep…”
Shazam! Fury of the Gods will be the sequel to Sandberg’s 2019 movie Shazam. The first instalment in the DCEU was well received by fans and critics, which made the sequel an anticipated project. The sequel will once again see the tag team of Asher Angel and Zachary Levi as Billy Batson and Shazam, respectively.
While very little is known about the upcoming sequel, it is understood that it will follow up on what the first instalment built. With Billy Batson and his foster family having acquired superpowers, they will have to protect the world from evil forces.
Shazam 2 will see many of the cast from the first film reprise their roles. Jack Dylan Grazer, Djimon Hounsou, Ian Chen, Faithe Herman, Jovan Armand are among a few who will return in the movie. Shazam! Fury of the Gods will also feature Helen Mirren as Hespera, Lucy Liu as Kalypso and Rachel Zegler in an undisclosed role.
The production of the movie faced several challenges due to the pandemic, but now that the production has wrapped, the movie will look to target its scheduled release date of June 2, 2023.
