Deadpool 3 director Shawn Levy has recently intrigued fans after he teased a key scene that is inspired by Star Wars: Return of Jedi movie.

Recalling the Star Wars theatre memory

Shawn Levy spilled some beans about his anticipated big project during the promotions of his recently released Netflix series All the Light We Cannot See. Speaking at the event, he recalled an exact moment that served as an inspiration for his upcoming movie.

“For one key scene in the movie, I said to my stunt and action team, ‘Guys, this is the Jedi moment, I pulled up that scene of Vader and Luke on my phone and restudied how it was photographed, how it was blocked, the framing, the tempo,” he reminisced.

Levy further detailed the precise moment in an essay in Esquire, when he was watching Star Wars in theatre and the Vader-Luke scene came up, followed by a pin-drop silence from the audience. And that’s how the key moment stirred his creativity and influenced him to recreate something like that.

What was the Vader and Luke scene?

The 55-year-old director reflected on a scene from the 1983’s Return of the Jedi movie which made a significant impact on him.

In this particular scene, Luke Skywalker is trying to hide from Darth Vader in the Emperor's room, and latter in his speech threatens the former by emphasizing on the consequences of his act. 'If you will not turn to the dark side, then perhaps your sister will'," Darth's speech ends with a ripple effect.

However, he refrained from revealing much about the scene and left hawk-eyed fans to recognize the iconic scene.

“The keen Star Wars fan will see the shot in my Deadpool movie that was inspired by a moment that I saw in a theater decades ago, that’s a forever memory. And that’s a treasure,” said the Stranger Things director.

Based on Marvel’s Deadpool character, the upcoming Deadpool 3 sci-fi movie is a highly anticipated superhero film. Although the filming started, it had to be halted midway amid the SAG-AFTRA contract conflict in the entertainment industry.
