Paresh Rawal stepped in to complete the role of the late Rishi Kapoor in the drama
Sharmaji Namkeen which will become actor Rishi Kapoor’s final film, is only a few hours away from its release. Paresh Rawal, who stepped in to finish Rishi Kapoor’s role, has now said that the script was challenging yet comforting.
When asked why he gave the nod to the project, he told IANS that the film should be released because the script was brilliant and balanced, and his first thought was that he could take it up and justify the role.
"At the cost of modesty, I would like to say that I loved the script so much that it was challenging yet comforting for me. I could relate to the script. I can identify with the father, also known as Sharmaji," said Rawal.
He added that the writer and director made things easier for him, and the producers also assured him that the movie would be finished and released.
Sharmaji Namkeen co-written and directed by Hitesh Bhatia, is the legendary actor Rishi Kapoor’s final film. The actor passed away due to leukaemia on April 30, 2020, and Paresh Rawal stepped in to finish his parts in the movie.
Apart from Rishi Kapoor and Rawal, the movie also stars Juhi Chawla, Suhail Nayyar, Isha Talwar, Taaruk Raina, Satish Kaushik, and Sheeba Chaddha. The movie is backed by Excel Entertainment and MacGuffin Pictures.
The film’s trailer, which was released by the makers earlier this month, has received love from the audience and has over 19 million views on YouTube. The drama is set to start premiering on Amazon Prime Video on March 31, 2022.
