Sharly Modak is back as a ‘bad’ woman in the serial Phulki

The audience did not see Sharly Modak on the screen for a long time. She last appeared in the serial Lokkhi Kakima Superstar nine months back. Now, she made a comeback after a long hiatus. Sharly appears as a negative character in the serial Phulki. Abhishek Basu plays Rohit, the protagonist, in the serial. Newcomer Dibyani Mondal plays Phulki. Sharly plays the role of Shalini, who is Rohit’s ex-wife. Phulki is Rohit's current wife. This creates complications. After playing the female lead for so many years, why did Sharly choose a negative character?

In an interview with Anandabazar Online, Sharly said, “I was sitting at home for nine months. My father was ill. I wished to do good work. I did not work due to personal reasons, though I got some offers. I also asked myself why I should play a vamp after playing female leads. I discussed it with my close ones and then realized that the aim is to do good work and meaningful acting. Some layers in the character will be good for my career. Hence I agreed to do the role.” Sharley was at the center of discussions a few months back because of her breakup.

Meanwhile, Sharly’s co-actress Aparajita Adhya rejoins her television journey with Jol Thoi Thoi Bhalobasha in Star Jalsha. The mother-daughter saga also features Anusha Viswanathan, Indrasish Roy, Chandan Sen, Anashua Majumder, and others.
