Grover compared Sanandan Sudhir, the founder of On2Cook, to the character played by Kulbhushan Kharbanda in the 1980 film, which also starred Sunil Dutt and Amitabh Bachchan
The Shark Tank India stage witnessed numerous innovative and revolutionary products indeed. But while some nailed it on the product side of things, they could not display the same level of expertise when it came to the business side. Sanandan Sudhir’s pitch for On2Cook seemed to witness that sort of dichotomy, which inspired Ashneer Grover to compare the entrepreneur to a character from the 1980 movie, Shaan.
In the tank, Sudhir made the pitch for his cooking device which he called the ‘fastest cooking device on the planet’ and which he claimed would ‘disrupt the cooking industry’. The entrepreneur also demonstrated his product by cooking chicken for the sharks in 7 minutes. All of them seemed to be impressed by Sudhir’s product, until it came to the business side of things that is.
When the entrepreneur recounted his sales and business model, the sharks had their fair share of doubts. Grover claimed that Sudhir was like the character Shakaal from the 1980 film Shaan, played by Kulbhushan Kharbanda. Like how Shakaal fed his sharks from time to time and then locked them up in an aquarium, Grover said, Sudhir is too trying to pull something similar with the sharks on the show. Although the device is ‘smart’, Grover had concerns since the businessman had not made any notable sales and he declared himself ‘out’. Vineeta Singh, Aman Gupta, Anupam Mittal and Ghazal Alagh too followed the suit, and Sudhir went out of the tank empty-handed.
