Shark Tank India premiered its second season on January 2, much to the excitement of its fans.
Shark Tank India Season 2 which premiered on SonyLIV on January 2, kicked off on a positive note. The episode starts with the sister-in-law duo Uma Jha and Kalpana Jha talking about their stint in the first season, where they pitched an investment for their company, Jhaji Store, where they sold pickles and chutneys under the name Mithila Pickles and Chutneys Pvt. Ltd.
As they spoke about Sharks not investing in their company despite their interest, Uma and Kalpana went on to share that their appearance on Shark Tank India gained them popularity, and they witnessed a 400% growth rate in their company. They used to earn Rs. 5 lakh before Shark Tank India and soon after that, they went on to gain a profit of Rs. 25 lakh.
When they were talking about their entrepreneurial journey, Namita Thapar and Vineeta Singh entered the premises and gave Uma and Kalpana a huge surprise. Namita is heard saying, "Kalpana and Uma have set an example for others. Their pitch just instantly won my heart. Everything moves so quickly in that moment that you sometimes have regrets."
While Vineeta told Uma and Kalpana, "My mother scolded me, saying, 'I keep saying that I want to make giants in India and invest in women.' Then why didn't I write the cheque?"
To which Namita added, "The beauty of having regrets is that you can correct them. We've come here to rectify it."
Giving them a surprise, Vineeta handed over a cheque to Uma and Kalpana and said, "We have another surprise for you. This cheque is from Jharkhand Angels Network, Namita, and me for your inconclusive journey in Shark Tank India Season 1. We're here to give it a conclusion. You both deserve it. What was the amount you requested in Episode 1 of Season 1?"
They had offered to give 10% equity for an investment of Rs. 50 lakh. Uma and Kalpana have now received Rs. 85 lakhs for a 8.45% equity.
Vineeta went on to say, "I believe that Kalpana and Uma's story will inspire many more 'halwa' and 'laddoo' companies in small cities and towns. Thousands of women will message them, saying that their story inspired them to start their own businesses and demonstrate their success to their husbands and children."
On the other hand, Namita concluded by saying, "Sometimes, we lose our way while focusing on just the destination. So before beginning the new season, taking this detour was important."
Shark Tank India Season 2 premiered on January 2 on Sony TV and SonyLIV. You can watch the episodes on OTTplay Premium as well, from Monday to Friday at 10 p.m.
