Aman Gupta is one of the popular 'sharks' on the show Shark Tank India. The co-founder and chief marketing officer at BoAt is known for his charisma and the bits of advice he gives to the budding entrepreneurs. Gupta has been a fan of the show for a long. He has watched all the episodes of the original version of the show, Shark Tank. The show has been a huge influence on his life and he said in an interview earlier that the show helped him write a proposal to his investor. He also said that he got emotional when he was called to be a part of the Indian adaptation of the US show.

Hailing from a CA family in Delhi, Gupta first took up CA on his father's insistence and became one of the youngest CA in the country. Bored with the field and at different jobs that he took up later, he quit work and started a business with his father. He learned about sales and marketing there but it did not hold his interest for very long either. He pursued MBA from Kellogg School of Management in 2011, specialising in general management and marketing. But that quite did appeal to him.

At the age of 35 years, he gave up the jobs and businesses after failing at three of them. In an interview, he said his wife gave him an ultimatum and said that he should figure out what his passion is and what he would like to do in the next two years. He was never happy and satisfied until he started BoAt. Despite tough competition, he got into a popular category of consumer electronics brands. He started working with his co-founder Sameer Mehta at a restaurant in Delhi. They brought in different kinds of products and marketed them differently, targeting the youth of the country. He got young people in his team to understand the slang of the millennials.

For the first two years, the company sold earphones, headphones, speakers, travel chargers and premium rugged cables. The company is known for 'indestructible' Apple charging cable with a lifespan of about 10,000 bends as the original would bend and break near the ends. They also sold it at Rs 1,500, much lower than Apple's price.

Gupta says his inspiration is Jeff Bezos and he learned about customer obsession from Amazon India. He believes failure is how one learns and one should not be scared to take risks. He also said that rejection has been a regular part of his life. He was rejected by employers, banks and start-ups.

Today, he is an angel investor himself and has invested in companies including FREECULTR, Bummer, Skippi Ice Pops, Shiprocket, WickedGud, Anveshan, and 10club. His net worth is estimated to be $95 million.
