Shark Tank India: Anupam Mittal says he ‘regrets’ investing in certain contestants’ pitches on show

Shark Tank India has certainly done a lot for the up-and-coming entrepreneurs who made an appearance on the show, some of whom got a leg up in the business world by the sharks’ investments. But it seems that not all sharks look back on their investments with satisfaction. One of them, Anupam Mittal, recently revealed that he had his fair share of regrets when it came to his stint on the show.

In conversation with Rohan Joshi and Tanmay Bhat, the Shaadi.com Founder and CEO opened up about some of the regrets he had while investing in contestants’ pitches. The businessman revealed that at the beginning, he came on the show with the objective of making investments in as few pitches as possible. He said although there were many great contestants and pitches, he did not have enough time or capital to be able to back every single idea he thought was good.

But as he shared a panel with the rest of the sharks, there were many times when his competitive spirit took over his rationale. He talked about how when striking deals, things would get competitive and stressful in the tank and how ‘logic went out the window’ at time. Mittal said he had gotten into a FOMO or Fear Of Missing Out mindset, and he had made investments on several deals he should not have caught up in the excitement. At times investing money was the only way to participate in the excitement, Mittal adds.

In addition to Mittal, Ashneer Grover, Aman Gupta, Ghazal Alagh, Namita Thapar, Peyush Bansal and Vineeta Singh are the other judges on the business reality show.

Shark Tank India is available to stream on SonyLIV.
