Anupam Mittal, founder and CEO of Shaadi.com, shot to more fame after he appeared on the show Shark Tank India. But many may not be aware of this fact of the entrepreneur. Mittal has acted in a film earlier. Mittal did a lead role in the film, Flavors by Raj & DK.
In a recent chat with Tanmay Bhat and Rohan Joshi Anupam Mittal talked about his brief acting career and his interest in making movies. During the podcast, the shark said he is friends with Raj & DK and they happen to make movies, inspired by the people they know in their lives. That's how the film happened. He said when they approached him with the script, he found it quite similar to his life. Raj & DK convinced him to play the role in the movie. "I never seriously want to pursue acting. But I'd like to make movies," he said.
Mittal had tried to foray into the movie industry before and he calls his decision then, 'irrational'. "I was younger and wanted to try out every industry. But now the film industry has changed. The content production game has changed. I wouldn't like to be a producer but could invest in a director duo who have a production company," he said.
He also added that he has written a few stories that he would like to see on big screens. "I find these stories interesting and exciting and so do my director friends. When I get time, I would like to see them turn to reality. I can work with these guys and make it happen," he said.
The show Shark Tank India is an official adaptation of the US show, Shark Tank. Season of the Indian version of the show was hosted by Rannvijay Singha, also featured sharks, Aman Gupta, Ashneer Grover, Anupam Mittal, Ghazal Alagh, Namita Thapar and Vineeta Singh. The show is about budding entrepreneurs pitching their business ideas and models to the investors for funds in exchange for an equity share in their company.
