Sharks questioned whether the hair care startup’s logo was a "ganja leaf" or just a branding error during its pitch on Shark Tank India Season 4.
An Indore-based entrepreneur recently pitched his hair care business on Shark Tank India Season 4 which is now available to watch on Sony LIV (OTTplay Premium). He asserted that his all-natural hair loss remedies were the only ones on the market. Bharat Khatri, an entrepreneur, sought Rs 50 lakh for 2% of his company, but talk turned to his logo instead. There was some confusion on the part of the founder when Aman Gupta pointed out that the logo looked like a cannabis leaf.
"Bhaang, ganja ped hota hai, uski tarah," Aman exclaimed, his mind wandering to the possibility that the logo resembled a cannabis leaf. "Ganja jante ho? (Do you know what ganja is?)" Anupam Mittal enquired, while further asking in Hindi that it's something one smokes. It has a plant, and this looks similar to it. He also questioned whether the pitcher had done this intentionally. And without hesitation, the entrepreneur declined.

Bharat went on to describe his company, which deals in various hair care products. He asserted that he had amassed Rs 5 crore in sales in the prior fiscal year on the back of a mere Rs 22,000 credit card debt. Just when Bharat believed everything was going smoothly due to his robust sales, Anupam started to question his qualifications and the scientific foundation of the product. During the ensuing argument, the businessman confessed that he lacked an Ayurveda degree but did hold a license in AYUSH (Ayurveda, Yoga, Naturopathy, Unani, Siddha, and Homoeopathy).
Interjecting at this point, Kunal Bahl stated his belief in Bharat and his work, but that he was unable to invest in the company due to its proprietorship status. He requested that Bharat get in touch with him once he changed it to a limited liability corporation. Based on his research on the company's reputation and the positive feedback from customers, Peyush Bansal offered Rs 50 lakh in exchange for 10% stock and 2% royalties until he recoups his investment, a return of 100%. Peyush rejected Bharat's counteroffer since it did not include the royalty.
Anupam and Kunal spoke about the product and the entrepreneur after the pitcher left the stage. Kunal pointed out that generations have passed down many home medicines, leaving many users unaware of their effectiveness.
Anupam added that he has a responsibility to act responsibly when he packages "ghar ka nuskha" and sells it in the market. It pains him to say this, but he thought this was total nonsense.
