The new season premiered on January 2.
A new season of one of the most popular business reality shows in the country, Shark Tank India, premiered on Monday with a bang. If the first episode is anything to go by, this season too promises to be as exciting and intriguing as the last, with a number of varied businesses to keep things interesting. However, not everyone was pleased with the much anticipated premiere episode of season 2 of the popular business reality show.
Season 2 saw boAt CMO and co-founder Aman Gupta, Emcure Pharmaceuticals executive director Namita Thapar, Lenskart CEO and co-founder Peyush Bansal, Shaadi.com founder and CEO Anupam Mittal, and SUGAR Cosmetics CEO and co-founder Vineeta Singh return as judges for the new season. The last pitch of the episode came from Rahul Sachdeva and Dheeraj Bansal, the founders of makeup brand Recode Studios, which sells affordable good quality makeup.
Although the sharks were impressed by the innovative marketing strategy of the founders and the way they were able to build their business, none of them chose to invest in the same. Namita and Aman gave the reason that they did not want to invest in a business that would prove to be a competitor of their friends, referring to Vineeta’s makeup business.
Netizens were not pleased with this reasoning given by the duo, and took to Twitter to express their displeasure. Many users were also angered by the way Aman made fun of one of the founder’s ways of speaking.
BharatPe founder Ashneer Grover, who was a shark last season, was absent from Shark Tank India season 2, being replaced by CarDekho Group CEO and co-founder Amit Jain. Ashneer’s absence seemed to be felt by many netizens, who took to memes to express their gloom.
Watch new episodes of Shark Tank India season 2 every Monday to Friday at 10 PM on SonyLIV and Sony Television.
