Sharib Hashmi on his dream of working with Sushant Singh Rajput in Takadum: It never materialised

The Family Man actor opens up about how he bagged the role of JK Talpade in the hit show and his unfulfilled dream to work with late actor, Sushant Singh Rajput.

Sharib Hashmi has become quite popular after working with Manoj Bajpayee in the hit crime drama series, The Family Man. He essays the role of JK Talpade - a friend, colleague and confidant to Bajpayee’s Tiwari in the Amazon Prime Video series.

In an interview with Indiatoday.in, the actor revealed his unfulfilled desire to work with the late actor, Sushant Singh Rajput and how he bagged the role of Talpade in The Family Man.

Not many know that Sharib had got an opportunity to work with Sushant in Takadum, but the Homa Adajania film was put on the back burner for unknown reasons.

“Who doesn't want to work with an actor like Sushant Singh Rajput? He was a talented actor and a very nice human being. We were supposed to work in a film together called Takadum which was being directed by Homi Adajania. Along with Sushant, the film also starred Parineeti Chopra in the lead role. I was roped in to play a pivotal role in the film. Due to several reasons the film had to be shelved. Sushant left us and with that my dream of working with him also never materialised,” Sharib Hashmi was quoted as saying by IndiaToday.

Sharib Hashmi has received a lot of praise for his role in The Family Man and talked at length about how he landed the part. He further told the publication, "I was fortunate that the makers of The Family Man liked my audition. I had worked in films like Filmistaan and Jab Tak Hai Jaan. After Filmistaan's release, I got a lot of love from fans and I thought that now it will be a smooth ride. But I was wrong. I did many small and big roles in films after Filmistaan but felt as if the audience was forgetting me. I knew that I had to do something different. Then years later, I got this show and I made the best use of this opportunity. This show revived my career."

Also starring Samantha Akkineni, Priyamani and Sharad Kelkar in significant roles, The Family Man season 2 is available to stream on Amazon Prime Video.
