Shanthnu Bhagyaraj's latest outing Raavana Kottam has got international recognition. The film's director Vikram Sugumaran has won the award for Best Director at the Eastern Europe Film Festival in Romania. The jury also congratulated the film's producer Kannan Ravi, actor Shanthnu and the rest of the team.

Taking to his social media handle, Shanthnu Bhagyaraj wrote, "Congratulations to my dearest director @VikramSugumara3 brother on winning “BestDirector” award A long due recognition for you Thank you #EasternEuropeFilmFestival ‘Romania’ for honouring us with this international recognition Thanking everyone who supported our struggle #RaavanaKottam #BestDirectorAwardVikramSugumaran #InternationalRecognitionforRaavanaKottam God bless @DoneChannel @teamaimpr @CtcMediaboy (sic)."
Raavana Kottam, however, opened in movie halls to mixed reviews and didn't make a major dent at the box office. However, Shanthanu's performance got rave reviews. The star cast for the film includes Prabhu, Anandhi, Ilavarasu, Deepa Shankar, Shaji Chen, Aruldoss and PL Thenappan. The film is all set to make its OTT debut soon and will stream on Simply South starting from June 9.
Music for the film is by Justin Prabhakaran, cinematography by Vetrivel Mahendran and editing by Lawrence Kishore. The film was bankrolled by Kannan Ravi Group and hit screens on May 12.
During the promotions of the film, Shanthnu had come up with a video clip in which spoke about facing failures in his life. In the video, he states that though his dream of becoming an actor came true with Sakkarakatti, he didn't get the launchpad that he had expected. He added how he got the first taste of appreciation with Thangam, an episode in the anthology, Paava Kadhaigal.
He also spoke about how even Lokesh Kanagaraj's Master let him down as his role was cut short to a great extent. Shanthnu added that he had really worked hard for Raavana Kottam and with the same enthusiasm as his maiden project.
