The second trailer of Marvel’s Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings brings back a few familiar faces from the comic books and previous movies. With action packed sequences, impressive visuals and a diverse cast, the Destin Daniel Cretton is easily one of the most-anticipated films in the MCU.
The latest trailer throws light on the sinister Ten Rings Organisation with Tony Leung as the head of the organisation, Wenwu, the infamous Mandarin, hinting at the Iron Man 3 connection. Epic showdowns, Hulk’s archenemisis Abomination, dragons under the sea and more will be seen in the film.
As part of phase four of MCU, the studio has slotted Shang-Chi movie for a September 3 release, more than a month after the release of Black Widow on July 9.
“Shang-Chi’s main problem in his life is rooted in not knowing who he really is,” said Destin Daniel Cretton, the film’s director and one of the writers, in a recent interview. “He has to learn how to own every part of himself. If he doesn’t allow himself to look at all of it—the good, the bad, the light and the dark—and to own it all, he won’t be able to reach his full potential.”
Apart from Simu Liu as the titular character, the film also stars Awkwafina as Shang-Chi’s friend Katy and Michelle Yeoh as Jiang Nan, Fala Chen as Jiang Li, Meng’er Zhang as Shang Chi’s sister Xialing, Florian Munteanu as Marvel baddie Razor Fist and Ronny Chieng.
The film is produced by Kevin Feige and Jonathan Schwartz, with Louis D’Esposito, Victoria Alonso and Charles Newirth serving as executive producers. David Callaham, Cretton and Andrew Lanham wrote the screenplay for the film.
