The film, which is touted to be a feel-good mystery, is helmed by TK Rajeev Kumar and also has Vinay Forrt in the lead
Shane Nigam’s Bermuda, which was supposed to hit theatres on August 19, has been pushed to a later release date. This is the second time that the movie has been postponed this year. The makers took to social media to announce that the film will be a theatrical release and the new release date will be announced soon.
With the next few weeks till Onam being packed with releases, Bermuda could hit theatres only after the festive season in September. The movie, which has Shane and Vinay Forrt in the lead, is directed by TK Rajeev Kumar.
The filmmaker, in an earlier interview with OTTplay, had said that the movie has a fun narrative while having a socially relevant layer. “It has a mystery element but is not a thriller per se,” said the filmmaker.
Bermuda, which had completed shooting last year, has Shane essaying a youngster named Indugopan while Vinay plays a former footballer-turned-cop named Joshua. The movie revolves around a unique case that Indugopan files in Joshua’s station and how the latter, who doesn’t quite have the instincts of a police officer, launches an investigation.
The filmmaker also told us that he was keen on releasing the movie in theatres as he believes Bermuda isn’t the run-of-the-mill movie and that people will come to cinema halls to watch such films. He also said that the industry is currently facing a challenge to overcome the mindset of the audience, who wait for films to drop on OTTs.
However, with films such as Fahadh Faasil’s Malayankunju, Nivin Pauly’s Mahaveeryar, Tovino Thomas’ Thallumaala and Kunchacko Boban’s Nna Thaan Case Kodu doing well in theatres, it’s a good sign for upcoming movies – provided that their content appeals to the audience in Kerala.
Bermuda also has Noorin Shereef, Manianpilla Raju, Kalabhavan Shajohn and Saiju Kurup in pivotal roles.
