The project, Teddy directed by Shakti Soundar Rajan, which received appreciation for its CG works, was announced a couple of years ago. Starring Arya and Sayyeshaa in lead roles, the movie, after several speculations, premiered on Disney+ Hotstar earlier this year.
Produced by Gnanavel Raja's Studio Green, the film opened to mixed reviews, though Imman's music and Arya's performance were a few aspects which received positive response. The filmmaker took to Twitter to post a picture of him receiving a special gift from Gnanavel as the latter was pleased with the project's success. The producer gifted him a brand new, swanky MG Hector.
Shakti tweeted to thank him for his generous gesture. He posted, "#Teddy will always be a special film for me. Thank you @kegvraja for this wonderful gesture to make it more special! You're thoughts and actions have always been big and generously abundant sir!"
In his reply, Gnanavel was all praise for the filmmaker and said that the latter has always been a producer's delight. He replied, "Always a pleasure working with u @ShaktiRajan sir ..as a director u Ar producers favourite and as a person u Ar simple grounded and great human being ..happy to be small part of your journey sir."
Director Naveen M, who is busy with the multi-starrer project Agni Siragugal too, congratulated Shakti and said that Teddy is his daughter's favourite movie. There has been news doing the rounds a while ago that the film will b remade in Hindi as well. The film was Arya's first release this year, followed by Sarpatta Parambarai which started streaming on Amazon Prime Video in July. His recent outing, Aranmanai 3, which hit the screens recently, is expected to release on Zee5 soon, though an official announcement is awaiting.
