The Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) has awarded a U/A certificate to Shaitaan. This means the film can be viewed by adults and children under adult supervision.
Recently, the makers of the film revealed that Shaitaan draws inspiration from the 2023 Gujarati horror film Vash, written and directed by Krishnadev Yagnik. Interestingly, the Gujarati film received an ‘A' (Adults Only) certificate from the Censor Board with as many as eight cuts, while Shaitaan earned a U/A certificate.
According to a report by Bollywood Hungama, Shaitaan required changes as ordered by the Censor Board’s Examining Committee (EC). The EC ordered that a voiceover be added to the disclaimer and a new disclaimer stating that the movie does not promote black magic in any possible way. Secondly, a warning on alcohol consumption should be included. Thirdly, an offensive word should be replaced with a scream. Lastly, the amount of blood coming from a character's mouth should be reduced.

Shaitaan is a remake of the 2023 Gujarati horror film Vash, which was directed and written by Krishnadev Yagnik. Janki Bodiwala, who was in the original film, also appears in this version.
