Shahid Kapoor’s views on movies at theatres Vs OTT debate.

Shahid Kapoor is one of the most promising actors in Bollywood. Over the last five years, he has not delivered any flop movies at the box office as well as on OTT platforms. Recently, the 42-year-old actor expressed why box-office earnings are in accordance with the popularity of the actor in it.

In an interview with news portal HT City, Shahid said, “I don’t want to be naïve. The box office signifies popularity, the size of your reach, and how many people have consumed your content. That is never going to change.”

Shahid Kapoor’s professional life

In 2019, Shahid Kapoor took on the lead role in the film 'Kabir Singh,' portraying a self-destructive alcoholic yearning for his former girlfriend. The movie garnered over ₹3.7 billion in worldwide box office earnings, securing its position as the second highest-grossing Hindi film of that year. It marked Kapoor's most significant commercial success to date, with him as the sole male protagonist.

Back in 2014, Kapoor was initially offered the lead role in 'Farzi,' a crime drama film by the filmmaker duo Raj & DK. Over the course of the decade, this project evolved into a streaming series, a format Kapoor was eager to explore. It finally premiered on Amazon Prime Video in 2023 and quickly became a massive online hit.

Driven by a desire to take on an intense action role, Kapoor accepted an offer from filmmaker Ali Abbas Zafar to star in 'Bloody Daddy,' which was digitally released on JioCinema. Critics lauded Kapoor's performance in this film.

Both 'Farzi' and 'Bloody Daddy' garnered substantial viewership, making them the most-watched Indian streaming series and the most-watched Indian streaming film of the year, respectively. Kapoor's next project will see him starring in an as-yet-untitled romantic comedy alongside Kriti Sanon.
