Jawan opened in Bengal with approximately 1200 shows.
On September 7, Shah Rukh Khan’s Jawan entered as Tsunami all over the country. As a result, other films had to take a backseat to make room for Atlee’s directorial. Among them are Sunny Deol’s Gadar 2 and Dev’s Byomkesh O Durgo Rohoshyo. Both the films were released on August 11 – the Independence Day weekend. Gadar 2 scored pretty well in terms of box office numbers and reached the Rs 500 cr mark. However, it had to make room for Shah Rukh Khan’s storm.

Jawan opened in Bengal with approximately 1200 shows. There are a number of shows that started early in the morning. Almost every show on Thursday was houseful. Given this trend, there is a chance that there will be a rise in the number of shows on Friday, given the capacity of theatres.
On the other hand, Gadar 2 had 122 shows across West Bengal until Wednesday. On Thursday, the Sunny Deol-Amisha Patel film bagged 22 shows. This massive fall in numbers was attributed to the high demand for Shah Rukh Khan’s Jawan.
Satadeep Saha, who runs Ajanta Cinema, said, “Gadar 2 was doing well but we had to replace it with Jawan because of the demand. This is the first time we started the at with a 6.40 am show. We had 11 shows throughout the day. We don’t have any more capacity to screen anything else.”
Not just Gadar 2, Dev’s Byomkesh O Durgorohoshyo also saw a dip in the number of shows. Dev’s film was also released on August 11 and did moderately good business at the box office.
