Finally, Taapsee Pannu has announced the release date of her upcoming film, Shabaash Mithu. In the film, the actor plays the titular role of Mithali Dorai Raj, the renowned Indian cricketer. The film, directed by Srijit Mukherji, is set to hit the big screens on July 15, 2022. Taapsee announced the release date with a brand-new poster of Shabaash Mithu which also features her character's younger self.

The actor tweeted the poster as "There is nothing more powerful than a girl with a dream and a plan to realize it! This is a story of one such girl who chased her dream with a bat in this 'Gentleman’s Game' #ShabaashMithu. The Unheard Story of Women In Blue will be in cinemas on July 15th, 2022."

The legendary Indian Women's Cricket Team captain has a 23-year career that includes seven straight 50s in ODIs and four World Cups. The story follows her development from an eight-year-old kid with a dream to a cricketing icon.

Earlier, during an interaction with Bollywood Hungama, Taapsee had spoken about how she was a huge cricket fan during her childhood. The actor had said that she was an enthusiastic cricket fan. Between matches, the actor would sit and pray for India to win. Her heart rate was affected by the outcome of a match.

However, the actor further told the entertainment portal that when she grew up and learned about match-fixing, she was heartbroken for that little girl who was enamoured with cricket. The actor understands that a hand's five fingers are not all the same. However, a seed of scepticism regarding cricket had been planted in her mind. After that, her interest in sports grew beyond cricket to include other sports.

While talking about how she assesses her career, Taapsee went on to say that she likes to look back at the end of each year to evaluate if she has met the goals she set for herself and how she can improve. The issues are different now that the discrepancy in stakes between male and female actors is no longer as great.
