Shaam has said that he is eagerly looking forward to working with Vijay
The buzz in the industry in the last few days has been that Shaam is part of Vijay’s upcoming film with Vamshi Paidipally, which is being referred as ‘Thalapathy 66’. Now, Shaam has confirmed on his social media page that he is indeed part of the film and that he is eagerly looking forward to working with Vijay. Taking to his Instagram page, Shaam wrote, “"LOOKING FORWARD TO WORK WITH THE ONE AND ONLY THALAPATHY. @#thalapathy66 #actorshaam #thalapathyvijay #shaam (sic)."
Shaam is expected to join the sets in May. Though there is no clarity on his role in the film, it is said that his character is a crucial one. Some reports have also hinted that Shaam could be playing Vijay’s brother in Thalapathy 66. However, we will have to wait for an official confirmation on the same.
The film has Rashmika Mandanna playing the leading lady and the shoot had begun earlier this month with a formal puja ceremony in Chennai, for which the lead actors were present. Pictures of the puja had set the internet soaring. Music for the film is by Thaman and the movie is bankrolled by popular Tollywood producer Dil Raju. This will be Vijay’s next after Nelson Dilipkumar’s Beast, which hit screens on April 13, on the occasion of the Tamil New Year. This is also the first time that Rashmika is teaming up opposite Vijay. She had made her Tamil debut opposite Karthi in Sulthan.
Interestingly, Shaam and Vijay had earlier shared screen space way back in 2000 in SJ Suryah’s directorial debut Kushi. Shaam had made a cameo in a scene as Vijay’s friend. Later, Shaam went on to make his debut as a lead actor with 12B (2001) and was paired opposite Simran and Jyotika, who were the two of the biggest stars of the time. Jyotika had also played the lead in Kushi.
