Samantha, who was last seen in the bilingual flick Yashoda, is now gearing up for Shaakuntalam, which will be released in five languages. The mythological movie, directed by Gunasekhar, will hit the screens on April 14 in Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Hindi and Malayalam.
A few promotional videos from the project were unveiled by makers recently and the actress hit the headlines sometime ago when she visited a temple in Telangana along with some of the crew members. Her fans were excited to see her back on social media after a short hiatus.
She has now posted a few pictures of hers on her microblogging page. The monochrome pics have her posing stylishly for the shutterbugs as part of her promotional activities for the ambitious project. Along with the photos, she wrote, "#ShaakuntalamOnApril14 Let’s talk all things #Shaakuntalam (sic)."
Her first outing of 2023, the movie is an important film in her career. It is also the second period flick for director Gunasekhar after Anushka-starrer Rudhramadevi which was released in 2015. Manisharma's music and Sekhar V Joseph's cinematography are expected to be highlights of Shaakuntalam which stars a bevy of actors, including Dev Mohan, Sachin Khedekar, Mohan Babu, Aditi Balan, Ananya Nagalla and Prakash Raj.
Neelima Guna has bankrolled the film under the banner of Sri Venkateswara Creations. The much-awaited Amazon Prime show Citadel and Tollywood movie Kushi opposite Vijay Deverakonda are Samantha's upcoming projects. The actress, who was last seen in Tamil with Vignesh Shivan's Kaathuvaakula Rendu Kaadhal, hasn't signed a Tamil project yet.
Earlier, there were speculations on her teaming up with Vijay again for Lokesh Kanagaraj's Leo. However, it was squashed as baseless rumours after the team roped in Trisha to essay the female lead role.
