Sexual harassment case - Taarak Mehta producer Asit Kumar Modi ordered to pay compensation to Jennifer Mistry Bansiwal

Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashma face Jennifer Mistry Bansiwal made some shocking accusations against producer Asit Modi. She even filed a police complaint claiming Asit Modi made inappropriate advances towards her. She also filed a lawsuit against producers Jatin Ramani and Sohil Ramani, the year before. The lawsuit has now advanced significantly, and Jennifer's fight has taken a new turn.

Jennifer Mistry wins sexual harassment case

Jennifer Mistry Bansiwal requested help from the Maharashtra government, according to the Times Of India. Asit Modi is now declared guilty under the Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace (Prevention, Prohibition, and Redressal) Act of 2013 after the Local Complaints Committee took over the case.

Jennifer told ETimes, "Asit Kumar Modi has been ordered to pay me my due amount and an additional compensation for deliberately withholding my payment, totaling around Rs 25-30 lakh. An extra Rs 5 lakh is imposed on Mr. Modi for harassment. The verdict was out on 15th Feb 2024, but I was asked not to share it in the media."

Further speaking about the verdict, the TMKOC fame actress revealed that it has been days since the verdict was out about the sexual harassment case against the producer. On 15th February 2024, the judgment was announced, however, the actress was asked to not share anything in this regard.

"This verdict clears that my case was not fabricated, and I wasn’t seeking cheap publicity. While I’m glad my harassment was recognized, I don’t feel I’ve received proper justice yet," Jennifer added.

For the uninitiated, Jennifer Mistry was a part of Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashma where she portrayed the role of rs Roshan Sodhi. She left the show in 2023 and filed a complaint against Asit Modi, who is the producer of the show. Asit Modi, the show's project head Sohail Ramana, and executive producer Jatin Bajaj were booked under sections 354 and 509 (Assault or criminal force to a woman with intent to outrage her modesty) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).
