Candace Bushnell also said that landing a 'Mr Big' just like Carrie Bradshaw did in Sex and the City should not be anyone's primary goal.
The makers of Sex and the City have revived the show for a 10-episode series titled And Just Like That. Amid that, the creator of Sex and the City book Candace Bushnell has given her two cents on the series overall. The author broke the bubble of people who are inspired by the series by saying that the series is 'not very feminist at the end'. She even asked people to not look up to Carrie Bradshaw's (Sarah Jessica Parker) love interest Mr Big (Chris Noth) as the ideal man.
Candace told The Hollywood Reporter, "The reality is, finding a guy is maybe not your best economic choice in the long term. Men can be very dangerous to women in a lot of different ways. We never talk about this, but that's something that women need to think about: You can do a lot less when you have to rely on a man."
Calling it a not very feminist series, the author also said that it's TV and entertainment, thus people should not base their lives on it.
On the revival And Just Like That Candace went on to say, "HBO's going to make money on it. They're going to exploit it as much as they can."
She revealed that she doesn't have much idea about the upcoming series but hopes even that runs for six seasons just like the original Sex and the City.
Candace added, "Of course I'm going to watch it. I hope it runs for six seasons. I get paid a little bit of money."
And Just Like That features Sarah, Cynthia Nixon (Miranda Hobbes) and Kristin Davis (Charlotte York) reprising their roles from Sex and the City. In addition to them, the series also features Nicole Ari Parker, Sarita Choudhury, Karen Pittman, Sara Ramirez and others in supporting roles.
The series will premiere on HBO Max in December 2021.
