'Netflix will help Sesham Mike-il Fathima reach wider audience', says director Manu C Kumar
Despite being a good entertainer, the Kalyani-starrer failed to lure audiences to the theatres, resulting in poor box office performance. Commenting on the film’s theatrical failure, director Manu C Kumar said, “The film sparked favourable reviews despite not having much of a rush in theatres. I think the movie would have a wider audience and a more prominent platform if it were released on Netflix.”
Director Manu also mentioned that he narrated the script to Kalyani Priyadarshan, while she was working on Anoop Sathyan’s Varane Avashyamund. According to him, she was the perfect choice for the role of Fathima because of her vivacious personality. As she was not very proficient in Malayalam, she was hesitant to dub in her own voice for the movie. However, he added, “The script needs the female lead's voice in order to give the character genuineness.”

Kalyani about playing Fathima in Sesham Mike-il Fathima
Earlier in an interview with OTTplay, Kalyani opened up about how challenging it was to prepare for the role of Fathima in the comedy drama. “This was my most challenging character so far, in terms of skill as well as body language. There are two reasons for that - one is getting the language right and the other half is maintaining the energy. One thing that I observed while interacting with a lot of Malabar girls is that they are very expressive; they really don’t know how to hide their emotions; it’s all there on their faces,” the Hridayam actress elaborated.
