Kovai Sarala and Ashwin Kumar play lead roles in the project
A still from Sembi
Prabu Solomon's Sembi is one of the few Tamil movies that have announced its release date on December 30. R Ravindran, Ajmal Khan and Reyaa have produced the film which will be distributed by Red Giant Movies across Tamil Nadu. The team had unveiled its trailer a few months ago.
The makers have now come up with another trailer offering a glimpse into the film's genre and plot. It revolves around a grandmother and a granddaughter who share a special bonding with each other. They lead a serene life in a hill station. An unexpected incident followed by nature's fury leaves them devastated.
How they lead their lives further in the hill station forms the rest of its story. M Jeevan's splendid visuals are expected to be one of the highlights of the movie. Buvan and Nivas K Prasanna have handled editing and music respectively for Sembi.
Kovai Sarala has undergone a complete makeover for the movie, and film buffs are waiting to see her portraying a never-before-seen avatar. Ashwin Kumar plays another pivotal role in the film apart from Thambi Ramaiah who is a regular in Prabu's movies. Phoenix Prabu and Srikrish have handled action and dance sequences respectively.
Sembi marks Prabu's return to direction after the trilingual movie Kaadan which was released last year. The filmmaker has Kumki 2 coming up which will be a spiritual sequel to his decade-old movie Kumki which hit the screens a decade ago.
Zee5 has bagged the digital rights of Sembi while Zee Tamil has acquired its satellite rights. The project is expected to have its OTT premiere during the last week of January.
