Fans are eagerly waiting for the two to collaborate on a project
Selvaraghavan and AR Rahman
The release of Ponniyin Selvan 2 is three weeks away and the Mani Ratnam directorial is expected to take a huge opening in Tamil Nadu and a few overseas markets. The much-awaited sequel's trailer and audio launch were held recently at an event in Chennai, which also officially kick-started its promotions.
One of the aspects film buffs are looking forward to in the magnum opus is the music by none other than AR Rahman. The first single of the movie, Aga Naga, was unveiled a few weeks ago, and was instantly lapped up by music lovers.
Selvaraghavan is the latest celebrity to go gaga over Rahman's music in the biggest franchise in Kollywood. The director took to his Twitter page to say that Alai Kadal from the first installment is his favourite song. Posting the screenshot from a platform in which he was listening to the melody, he tweeted, "One of the songs that I will cherish all my life (sic)."
His fans were surprised and happy to see him expressing love towards Ponniyin Selvan. Interestingly, the first part of the franchise was released along with Selva's Naane Varuvean last year. The latter hit the screens a day in advance and a box office clash was awaited.
However, Ponniyin Selvan smashed several records and completely overshadowed Naane Varuvean. AR Rahman's gesture towards Selva is now winning the hearts of cinephiles. Rahman has replied to the director's tweet with exciting emojis.

Fans in the comment section are asking the two about a possible collaboration. Selva has mostly worked with Yuvan Shankar Raja, but it will be a wholesome experience for fans if Rahman and Selva join hands.
