The film is directed by G Mohan, who had earlier helmed Draupadi and Rudra Thandavam
The first-look poster from director G Mohan's Bakasuran was released today. In the poster, Selvaraghavan is seen shirtless amid what looks like a temple festival. The actor is seen wearing rudraksha and has vibuthi (sacred ash) smeared on his body. A number of devotees, playing musical instruments, are seen in the backdrop. Selvaraghavan is seen in an intense look as if he is about to set a score with someone. Sharing the first-look poster on his social media handle, Selvaraghavan wrote, "#Bakasuran first look 🤩Hope you all like it ! @mohandreamer @natty_nataraj @SamCSmusic @Gmfilmcorporat1 (sic)."
This is Selvaraghavan's third stint as an actor after Beast and Saani Kaayidham. Natty will also be playing a crucial role in the film. Music for the film is by Sam CS. The teaser is likely to be released on August 28. The shoot for the film has been wrapped up and post production is in full swing. Bakasuran is likely to hit screens later this year.
G Mohan had earlier helmed the controversial films Draupadi and Rudra Thandavam that glorified the caste system and patriarchy. Both the films raked up many controversies due to the regressive storylines, but it looks like his recent outing may not take that route. The film is said to be based on real-life incidents. Selvaraghavan teaming up with the controversial director had turned many heads.
In the meantime, Selvaraghavan is also awaiting the release of Naane Varuven, starring Dhanush in the lead. Dhanush will be seen in dual roles in the film and Selvaraghavan will also be seen in a crucial role, marking his fourth film as an actor. The star cast includes Yogi Babu, Indhuja Ravichandran and Elli AvrRam. Dhanush and Selvaraghavan are collaborating for a film after a decade and this has piqued the curiosity among the audience.
