It was recently reported that Screw Dheela would go on floors next year.
Fans waiting for Tiger Shroff and Rashmika Mandanna to grace the screen together in Screw Dheela were left disappointed when reports started to emerge that the film would be shelved. However, to their relief, the makers clarified that Screw Dheela was not in fact shelved, but its production had been postponed to 2023. Although reasons for the delay were given as scheduling conflicts, it seems that Shanaya Kapoor also has a connection to the film’s shoot getting postponed.
According to a report in Times of India, one of the biggest reasons that the film’s production was getting delayed was due to the makers being unable to arrive on a decision on its leading lady. A source told the portal that the production went through a number of issues to do with the dates. Although Rashmika was initially decided upon as the leading lady, there were issues with the schedule.
But Karan Johar and his home banner of Dharma Productions were keen on roping in Shanaya Kapoor for the role of the female lead, but that did not pan out either. The source added that the makers had to eventually push the film as a leading lady could not be finalised for the film’s production schedule.
Tiger too was busy with his previous commitments as well, including Akshay Kumar’s action flick Bade Miyan Chote Miyan, helmed by Ali Abbas Zafar. In the midst of the rumours of Screw Dheela being shelved, in part due to budget issues, Dharma Productions had released a statement clarifying that the film was postponed due to date issues. They also announced that they were collaborating with Tiger on another ‘monstrous’ project and added that they still enjoyed an amazing working relationship as well. Shashank Khaitan will direct Screw Dheela.
