The film hit the big screen on Thursday, on the occasion of Eid.
The long-awaited release of Sajid Nadiadwala and Namah Pictures' Satyaprem Ki Katha starring Kartik Aaryan and Kiara Advani, was met with a spectacular opening day on Thursday. The film succeeded in bringing joy to audiences, even though it did not deliver what many were hoping for—a straightforward musical romance. The movie opened yesterday and has already done very well at the box office, earning Rs. 9.25 crore.
The movie's opening-day figures have been beneficial for distributors. An overwhelming response from moviegoers has helped the film earn Rs. 9.25 crore (as per production figures) on its first day at the box office, making it among the highest-grossing opening days. This marks Kartik's third-highest debut gross to date.
So, it appears that this is merely the start. Since today is a weekday, the movie's attendance is bound to drop slightly, but that number will rise again on Saturday thanks to enthusiastic word of mouth.
The next three days will be crucial for the film's success, as its earnings so far may be respectable for a film of this genre, but when accounting for the Eid holiday component, they should be higher as fair value collections.
The production of Satyaprem Ki Katha also represents a major partnership between NGE and Namah Pictures. The feature films of Sajid Nadiadwala and Shareen Mantri Kedia, Kishor Arora, and Sameer Vidwans, as well as those of director Sameer Vidwans, all won national awards. The theatre release of Satyaprem Ki Katha began on Thursday.
In the film, Satyaprem, a young idealist, marries the lady he loves, Katha, but she has a secret she can't quite let go of. Thus, the story unfolds when Sattu learns the truth and what he does after that.
Satyaprem Ki Katha marks the second outing for Kartik and Kiara after their 2022 blockbuster, Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2.
