Sardar Udham is definitely one of the most anticipated releases of the year. Actor Vicky Kaushal shared a new look of his iteration of the freedom fighting.
The biographical film, based on the life of Indian freedom fighter Udham Singh.
In the new still, Kaushal looks rugged and weather-beaten. In the caption he wrote that the look will feature in the sequences from when Udham Singh was imprisoned in 1931.
Sardar Udham will trace the life of the Indian revolutionary, who assassinated Punjab's Lieutenant Governor Michael O'Dwyer. Dwyer had a huge hand in the tragic Jallianwala Bagh massacre of 1919 and the patriot’s actions were said to be a way to avenge the same. After living through the tragedy at the age of 20, he spent almost two decades of his life in pursuit of revenge. He was executed for his crime in 1940.
Speaking about his role, Kaushal has said that he tried to do justice to the freedom fighter as much as he was able to, and has attempted to emulate his courage and agony. He also revealed that a lot of mental as well as physical preparation had gone into the role.
Sardar Udham also stars Shaun Scott, Stephen Hogan, Banita Sandhu and Kirsty Averton. Directed by Shoojit Sircar, the film will be released on Amazon Prime Video on October 16, 2021.
