PS Mithran has directed the project which was released as a Deepavali outing

Fans of Karthi are elated to the core as the actor's three outings which were released in 2022 have turned out to be successful ventures. It all began with Muthaiya's Viruman which hit the screens in August. The rural drama, despite mixed reviews, entertained the audience.
Mani Ratnam's Ponniyin Selvan 1, which arrived in theatres towards September end, went on to become the biggest hit in Tamil cinema. Then came Sardar which got released as a Deepavali outing on October 21. The spy thriller garnered positive reviews and joined the list of successful Kollywood movies this year.
Movie buffs were eager to know how much the project would collect in the long run. The PS Mithran directorial has now entered the prestigious 100 crore club. The makers have officially announced the same. Sardar has thus become the third film of Karthi to enter the club after Kaithi and Ponniyin Selvan 1.
The team has also announced a sequel to Sardar during the success meet which was held a few days ago. Karthi is currently the only actor to have three sequels in his kitty. The sequel to Ponniyin Selvan 1 is expected to hit the screens in April 2023, while Kaithi's second part is likely to begin in 2023.
A few aspects of Sardar which received appreciation were racy screenplay, Karthi's performances in dual roles and the detailing which has gone into scenes pertaining to spying and water preservation. Rajisha Vijayan and Raashi Khanna essayed female leads in the movie which has Chunky Panday making his Tamil debut.
Laila made a comeback with the project which also has Munishkanth, Yugi Sethu, Rithwik and Yog Japee in key roles. The film's digital rights were bagged by aha Tamil long ago.
