Sardar 2: Karthi and PS Mithran’s project starts rolling, major updates are out
Karthi is teaming up with the filmmaker PS Mithran for the much-awaited sequel of their blockbuster movie, Sardar. The project, titled Sardar 2, has finally started rolling.

Karthi is currently in an excellent phase in his career, with some promising projects in his kitty. The popular actor is now set to reunite with director PS Mithran, the director of his blockbuster outing Sardar, for the much-awaited sequel of the film. The project, which has been titled Sardar 2 finally started rolling in Chennai today (July 12, 2024), with a grand pooja ceremony. Karthi and the rest of the team are expected to kickstart the shooting of the film very soon.
Sardar 2: Karthi and PS Mithran’s movie starts rolling
The highly anticipated Sardar sequel, which has been titled Sardar 2 started rolling in Chennai today. The movie was officially launched by the makers with a grand pooja ceremony, which was attended by Karthi, director PS Mithran, and the rest of the cast and crew members, along with a few selected guests. The production banner Prince Pictures shared some pictures from the pooja ceremony on social media. The banner confirmed that the Sardar 2 shooting will begin on Monday, July 15, 2024, in Chennai.
“The auspicious pooja for #Karthi starrer #Sardar2 took place recently and the shooting of the film is scheduled to start on July 15, 2024 in grand sets in Chennai,” reads the social media post of Prince Pictures. As the post suggests, a grand set has been constructed for the much-awaited project, at a famous film city in Chennai. Some unconfirmed reports also suggest that Sardar 2, which stars Karthi in the titular role, has been made as the most expensive project in its leading man’s career, so far.

The spy action-thriller film, which features Karthi in a double role as Agent Sardar Chandra Bose and Inspector Vijay Prakash, emerged as one of the highest-grossing Tamil films of 2022. Sardar marked the popular star’s first onscreen collaboration with director PS Mithran. Rajisha Vijayan and Raashii Khanna played the female leads in the film, which is currently available for streaming on Sun NXT and Amazon Prime Video. You can also watch Sardar on OTTplay Premium.
