Sarath Kumar dons khaki again, teams up with Gautham Karthik for a murder mystery set in Madurai

Veteran actor-politician Sarath Kumar has played many interesting cop roles in his long career. His last release Irai (streaming on aha Tamil) had him essaying a police officer. One of his upcoming projects, The Smile Man, too, will have him portraying a cop. Now, another film has been announced in which he will be donning the khaki again.

The untitled movie which has Dakshinamoorthy Ramar at the helm features Gautham Karthik, too, playing another lead in it. According to a report in TOI, Sarath essays a dedicated police officer who makes a mistake for the first time in his three decade-old career. What happens later because of his negligence forms the rest of the story.

Janani Iyer plays Sarath's daughter in the movie which also has Raveena Ravi and Dheepshika depicting important characters in it. Dakshinamoorthy said that he had Sarath in his mind while scripting for the movie. Working with the senior actor, he added, was a dream come true moment for him.

The murder mystery is set against the backdrop of Madurai and all the characters in the film will be talking in Madurai dialect. Sam CS is composing music for the project which will go on floors from next month.

Aravinnd Singh has been roped in to crank the camera for the untitled movie which will have editing by Koozhangal fame Ganesh Siva. The project is being produced by IB Karthikeyan of Big Print Pictures, in association with Venkata Srinivas Boggaram of Tauras Cinecorp and Muralikrishna Vankayalapati of Tripura Creations.

Gautham Karthik, who was last seen in Yutha Satham along with Parthiban, will next be seen in Pathu Thala in which he has shared screen space with Silambarasan. The movie is the remake of Kannada hit film Mufti.
