The actor spoke about her forthcoming projects, Kathal and the Hindi remake of The Great Indian Kitchen.
Sanya Malhotra must have felt on top of the world after her film Pagglait (2021) received rave reviews and widespread acclaim last year. The truth, however, was quite different. The actress was having a hard time giving herself enough credit.
During an interaction with Mid Day, the actor revealed that she had been suffering from Imposter Syndrome for three years of her five-and-a-half years in Bollywood. She was certain that she didn't deserve the possibilities that were coming her way and that her work was inadequate. She was quite hard on herself.
Malhotra was only able to channel the validation in a good way a few months after Pagglait's release. Now that she has taken a step back and thought about it, the actor can finally give herself credit. The Dangal actor said that she has put in the effort and she is deserving of the work she is receiving.
The actor has rejoined with Pagglait producers Guneet Monga and Ekta Kapoor for Kathal armed with her newfound self-love. Yashowardhan Mishra's directorial debut is set in a tiny village and follows a local politician whose cherished jackfruits go missing, with Malhotra's police officer character being tasked with solving the unusual case.
When one puts on the khaki uniform, they have to be responsible not just as an actor but also as a writer, and the script deserves praise for this flick. However, human beings are frequently dramatised in Hindi cinema. Malhotra went on to say that in his writing, Mishra emphasises this. People quickly comprehend what they are saying when they use comedy. The actor is looking for stories with a subliminal message. Malhotra is looking for female role models who will inspire her and other young women.
The remake of The Great Indian Kitchen is up next for her (2021). Adapting a well-known film comes with its own set of challenges, but the actor is looking forward to it. Malhotra remembers thinking to herself when she first watched the movie that she wished she could be a part of it. It's incredible that the director, Arati Kadav, chose her for the remake.
