Prithviraj Sukumaran might have a massive release in 'Salaar' to look forward to, but the actor currently seems to be swept up by fellow Malayali Sanju Samson's superb knock against South Africa.

The elegant batter struck a glorious century against the Proteas on Thursday and his many hardcore fans, including Prithviraj, are evidently overjoyed to see the man back in action. Sanju Samson might not be a mainstay in the Indian men's team but he certainly enjoys a cult following that yearns to see him more often in the Team India jersey.

Samson scored an impressive 108 from 114 balls that included six fours and three sixes. The knock comes at a crucial stage considering the ODI series between India and South Africa is levelled at one game each, with the third game seen as the decider. And Sanju Samson, fittingly, brought up his maiden ODI hundred when it mattered the most.

"Sanju on Thursday. #Salaar on Friday! ❤️‍🔥 @IamSanjuSamson is easily one of the most naturally gifted batsmen currently playing the game!" wrote Prithviraj Sukumaran in his X post to share his joy. His mega film 'Salaar: Part 1 - Ceasefire', of course, is out in theatres worldwide on December 22.

Prithviraj plays the role of Varadharaja Mannar in Prashanth Neel's film which is centred around the said character's friendship with Deva, the character played by Prabhas. 'Salaar' is billed as a two-part film that boasts loads of high-octane action, promising to be an epic ride at the movies for audiences. Salaar 2, the second instalment, is yet to go on floors.

The cast of 'Salaar' also includes Shruti Haasan, Easwari Rao, Jagapathi Babu, Bobby Simha, Pramod and others with Bhuvan Gowda handling cinematography and Ravi Basrur scoring the music.
