This week proved to be an interesting one for the OTT audiences since there wasn’t one but two interesting shows that released on two OTT platforms. While one was Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s historic-drama Heeramandi, the other was Sonali Bendre-led The Broken News S2. Although Heeramandi made it to the list unveiled by Ormax Media for the week of April 26-May 2, The Broken News S2 was nowhere to be seen.

SLB’s debut OTT series Heeramandi the most loved

Heeramandi was special because it marked Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s debut OTT series. The show, like his genre, is about history, aesthetics and women displaying strength in their own way. Heeramandi is a show about courtesans, played by Manisha Koirala, Sonakshi Sinha, Richa Chaddha, Sanjeeda Sheikh, Aditi Rao Hydari and Sharmin Sehgal. All of them have a story to tell of their lives in the brothel called Heeramandi, which is explored with every episode.

The Broken News S2 not yet there

The second season of The Broken News has been making headlines as well. The show featuring Sonali Bendre, Shriya Pilgaonkar and Jaideep Ahlawat, is loved by critics and viewers alike. However, this was not the time when it made it to the list. Next week, probably, will be a different story.

Others apart from Heeramandi in top five

While Heeramandi leads the list, the top two from last week i.e. Fallout and Amar Singh Chamkila, just fall by one rank. This means that Fallout is the second most loved and Diljit Dosanjh-Parineeti Chopra’s Amar Singh Chamkila, directed by Imtiaz Ali, is the third most loved. The new releases Ranneeti and Panchayat 3 also made it to the list. Jimmy Sheirgill’s Ranneeti ranks fourth while Jitendra Kumar’s Panchayat 3 is the fifth most loved.

Bottom five

Zakir Khan’s Chacha Vidhayak Hai Hamaare barely made it to the list. It ranks on number 10. Inspector Rishi, Dil Dosti Dilemma, The Great Indian Kapil Show and Emraan Hashmi’s Showtime make it to the sixth, seventh, eighth and ninth rank respectively. Interetsingly, Showtime has not gotten out of the list since the longest time, thus proving to be one of the most viewed shows this year.
