Sanjay Dutt's character revealed in horror comedy The Virgin Tree; read on
Sanjay Dutt will feature in a never-seen-before avatar in The Virgin Tree. Producer Deepak Mukut has divulged details about the actor's character from the film.

Sanjay Dutt has explored various genres in his long acting career. From romance, and action to comedy, Sanjay has done it all. But he will be attempting a film in the horror comedy space for the first time. Dutt is playing a pivotal role in The Virgin Tree. He will be seen alongside Mouni Roy and Palak Tiwari in the film which is being co-produced by him. In an interview with Mid-Day, The Virgin Tree's co-producer Deepak Mukut divulged details about Dutt's role in the film.
Sanjay Dutt's character in The Virgin Tree
Producer Deepak Mukut confirmed to the tabloid that Sanjay Dutt will be playing the role of a ghostbuster in The Virgin Tree. He said, "Apart from being a horror-comedy, the film is a musical too. The genre of horror is doing well today. Sanjay plays a ghostbuster, and his character has lots of gadgets that he uses to hunt down spirits. The story revolves around a mysterious tree with supernatural forces."
For those who are unaware, Sanjay narrated The Virgin Tree's story to Deepak about five years ago. At that time, Mukut had approached Dutt for a music video but they later decided to collaborate on the horror comedy. Back when everything was finalised, director Sidhaant Sachdev was an associate of Vikram Bhatt.

Story behind The Virgin Tree's title
Further, in the same conversation, Deepak revealed how the team decided to name the film, The Virgin Tree. "The ‘vir’ refers to vardaan, which is a blessing in Hindi. The ‘gin’ [is a play on] djinn. So, it is actually The Var-djinn Tree, but we are planning to change the English title. We want something massy," he said.
As of now, The Virgin Tree is a working title of Sanjay Dutt's movie. The media report suggests the makers are gearing up to release the movie in August this year. However, there's no confirmation on the release date yet.
Meanwhile, Sanjay Dutt recently backed out of Ahmed Khan's Welcome to the Jungle. The actor had already shot a few scenes for the film.
