Akshay Kumar’s Samrat Prithviraj is gaining a lot of hype as it edges close to its big release. Now hours before it starts screening in theatres, the movie has been declared tax free in the state of Uttar Pradesh.
According to PTI, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath declared that the movie will be tax free in the state. The CM watched a special screening of the historical war drama with his cabinet colleagues earlier today, before making the announcement. The leads, Kumar and Manushi Chhillar along with director Chandra Prakash Dwivedi also attended the screening.
“The film talks about history and provides entertainment. It can be watched with the family. We have learnt from mistakes of the past and are trying to rectify the mistakes of the past 75 years,” the Chief Minister said about the movie, according to The Indian Express. He also heaped praises for the actors and director and also pointed out that many places of the state have been shown in the movie.

Akshay Kumar, who was last seen in the action-comedy Bachchhan Paandey, plays the role of king Prithviraj Chauhan in the movie. Former Miss World, Manushi Chhillar plays the female lead in the movie, which also has Sonu Sood and Sanjay Dutt in important roles.
Backed by Aditya Chopra under the banner of Yash Raj Films, the movie is directed by Dwivedi, who has previously directed historical films and series like Chanakya. The movie is set to hit theatres on June 3 in Hindi, Tamil and Telugu.
