Shah Rukh Khan has proven time and again that he is the king of Bollywood. He has just delivered the second blockbuster hit of the year with Jawan.

The actor was on a break from films for four years, during which time his son, Aryan Khan, was an accused in a drugs case in 2021. While the star kid was later given clean chit by the court, the former Zonal Director of Narcotics Crime Bureau (NCB), Sameer Wankhede, was charged with criminal conspiracy and extortion of money.

Following this, Sameer had filed an application seeking to quash Special Enquiry Team’s (SET) report dated June 16, 2022, led by Deputy Director General Gyaneshwar Singh of Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB), Delhi. Sameer said that since Singh was overseeing the investigation, it constituted a breach of the principles of natural justice for Singh to head the SET examining his own case.

Win for Sameer Wankhede

In a big win for Sameer, the tribunal, chaired by Justice Ranjit More and Member (A) Anand Mathur, has now concluded that Gyaneshwar Singh's active involvement in the investigation precluded him from being a part of the SET.

The case against Sameer Wankhede

Sameer is alleged to have demanded Rs 25 crore bribe from Shah Rukh to not frame his son after drugs were seized from a Cordelia cruise ship that Aryan was on in 2021.

For the unversed, Sameer had arrested Aryan during a Cordelia Cruise raid.

Jawan’s viral dialogue

Creating buzz since the release of Jawan’s trailer, fans speculated that SRK’s dialogue from the film, “Bete ko haath lagane se pehle, baap se baat kar,” was directed at Sameer in connection to the drugs case.

Soon after the dialogue went viral, the former NCB officer shared a cryptic note that read, “I have licked the fire and danced in the ashes of every bridge I ever burned. I fear no hell from you.”
