Samara: Bharath and Rahman's thriller to hit screens in Tamil on THIS date

The film, directed by debutant Charles Joseph, is gearing up to hit screens on October 13

Actor Bharath's upcoming film, Samara, which is billed as a science fiction thriller, is all set to hit screens in Tamil on October 13. The film, which was originally released in Malayalam, on August 11, along with Jaladhara Pump Set Since 1962 and Kunjamminis Hospital, is now gearing up for its Tamil version.

The team recently dropped the announcement of the release date. Samara, directed by debutant, also stars Rahman in the lead. Sanjana Dipu of Moothoom-fame plays the leading lady.

Samara, a film on crime-procedural
According to the film's trailer, Samara means protected by god in Hebrew. The film is said to be a crime drama, which revolves around a police procedural and a scientist, played by Rahman and Bharath respectively. The film deals with the theme of bio war and the battle for power using the same as a weapon.

The star cast comprises Mir Sarawar, Rahul Madhav, Binoj Villya, Neet Chowdary, Shabareesh Varma, and others. Music for the film is by Deepak Warrier, cinematography by Sinu Siddharth, and editing by Ayoob Khan. The film is bankrolled by MK Subhakaran and Anuj Verghese Villyadath.

References to the Second World War
The Malayalam version opened to mixed reviews from the critics and audience. The film also has references to the Second World War with references of the dictator from Germany, Adolf Hitler. Samara has been shot in Kulu Manali, Dharamshala, and Jammu and Kashmir.

Bharath and Rahman's last projects
Bharath was last seen in Love, a suspense thriller, which is a remake of a Malayalam film with the same title. The actor teamed up with Vani Bhojan for the film, while the Malayalam version starred Shine Tom Chacko and Rajisha Vijayan playing the leads. The film, directed by RP Bala, opened to mixed reviews from the critics and audience.


Rahman, on the other hand, was seen in Mani Ratnam's magnum opus, Ponniyin Selvan, in which he played the Chola prince Madhurantakan.
